At Millbrook we are constantly looking for ways in which we can do our bit for the planet and become as environmentally friendly as possible.
Look out for Pot Lady: if you purchase a plant from Millbrook in a pot bearing this label, simply bring the empty pot back to store when you’ve finished with it and we’ll give you 50p off your next plant purchase.
Christmas tree recycling: in January we took back just over 500 Christmas trees which have now been chipped and shredded and used on our flower beds.
Saving our water: we’ve recently installed a massive 27,000 gallon tank at Crowborough so we can catch all the rainwater and then use it to water our plants.
Cardboard and plastic compactors: to help reduce all the rubbish going to landfill sites we now have compactors at both our centres. From 2007 onwards if you buy a large item from one of our stores which is packaged in cardboard, you can return the cardboard to store and we’ll dispose of it for you.
Old uniforms: we love our new uniforms but it seemed such a waste to just throw away the old ones so we have sent them to the Gambia via a project run by the Beacon Community College in Crowborough.
