Every year Millbrook supports a nominated charity with staff fund-raising and in store events and our charity for this year is Leukaemia Research. What makes it all the more important is we are working closely with a family from Gravesend who sadly lost their son to the disease. In November 2007 Ben Johnson died of leukaemia - he was just 17 years old. Even more shocking is that Ben died just hours after being diagnosed, but despite the trauma and stress of losing their son, Ben's parents Neil and Donna have been fund-raising tirelessy for Leukaemia Research and in particular an appeal dedicated to the memory of their son "Forget me not Ben."
"Ben's Dad came in to our centre last year to thank me for a donation we had made towards one of his fund-raising events," says Gravesend Manager Pam Garrard. "I was so touched by Ben's story and Neill's bravery that I was determined that we should make "Forget me not Ben" appeal our nominated charity for 2009," she adds.
Look out in store for details of our various fund-raising events throughout the year!
