Join Our Kitchen Team as a Pastry Chef – Gravesend

Are you passionate about baking and creating delicious, high-quality pastries and cakes? We’re looking for a talented and motivated Pastry Chef to join our back-of-house team at the popular Mill Restaurant in Gravesend.

This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your creativity and contribute to our reputation for excellence in fresh, handmade food.

Your Role Will Include:

  • Preparing and presenting a variety of pastries and baked goods to a consistently high standard
  • Following recipes accurately to ensure quality and consistency
  • Supporting timely food production and service delivery
  • Monitoring stock levels, reporting shortages, and assisting with stock control
  • Helping to achieve sales, margin, and cost control targets
  • Maintaining attractive displays to drive customer interest and sales
  • Collaborating with the kitchen team to create a positive and efficient working environment

Compliance & Food Safety:

  • Adhering to all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations, including HACCP procedures
  • Maintaining accurate records in line with Environmental Health and Trading Standards requirements
  • Participating in internal audits and ensuring full compliance with legislation and company policies
  • Upholding company standards for uniform and personal presentation

 

Hours and Days:

23 hours a week

  • Monday: 08:50 – 17:00 (30minute break)
  • Friday: 08:50 – 17:00 (30minute break)
  • Saturday: 08:50 – 17:00 (30minute break)

This is a hands-on role in a busy kitchen environment. We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in pastry or bakery preparation (professional or high-quality home baking)
  • Detail-oriented with a passion for presentation and consistency
  • Organised and efficient, able to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks
  • A team player, with a positive and collaborative attitude
  • Committed to food safety and high standards of cleanliness
